A same-day turnover is the tightest window in short-stay hosting: one guest checks out in the morning and the next arrives that afternoon. It is entirely manageable with preparation. Here is how to make it run smoothly.
1. Know your real window
Work out the time between checkout and check-in, then subtract travel time, a buffer for late checkouts and time for a final inspection. What remains is your actual working window. If it is shorter than the job needs, adjust your checkout or check-in times rather than rushing the clean.
2. Keep a second set of linen
Waiting for linen to wash and dry is the usual cause of delays. With a second full set on the shelf, the changeover can start the moment the guests leave, and the used set is laundered while the next guests are already arriving. See our guide to how many linen sets a short-stay property needs.
3. Stage supplies in advance
Keep consumables, replacement towels and cleaning supplies in one place at the property so nobody has to make a supply run mid-changeover.
4. Plan for late checkouts
Ask guests to confirm their departure time, and agree in advance how a late checkout is handled. Tell your cleaner straight away when a guest is running late so the schedule can adjust.
5. Follow a fixed order
A consistent order of work saves time: strip beds and start laundry, clean bathrooms, clean the kitchen, vacuum and mop, remake beds, restock and inspect. Our room-by-room checklist follows this order.
6. Confirm before the guest arrives
Finish with photos of every room so you can approve the property remotely before check-in, with time left to fix anything you spot.
When to bring in a professional
If you manage the property remotely, or have regular same-day turnovers, a dedicated service removes the biggest risk: a cleaner who cancels, or a changeover that runs late. Silv's offers pre-arranged changeovers timed to your booking dates and planned property management, so changeovers are scheduled around your calendar.
